NHS England Chief AHP Officer releases Service Bulletin

The Chief Allied Health Professions (AHP) Officer for NHS England has released a bulletin which outlines a number of actions and the focus that should be taken by staff in the health service in the upcoming months.

A Call to Action

A sustained programme of A Call to Action events are being arranged to allow NHS users, staff and the public to debate the key issues affecting the health service. These will be:

  • October – Prevention and early diagnosis

  • Early November – Future scenarios

  • End November – Valuing mental and physical health

  • December – Patients in control

  • January – Well co-ordinated care

The information gathered will be used by CCGs to develop 3-5 year commissioning plans and by NHS England to shape its direct commissioning responsibilities in primary care and specialised commissioning.

New Evidence Updates from NICE

NICE Evidence Updates help keep health and social care professionals up to date with new research and evidence. The latest updates include:

National Bereavement Survey (VOICES) 2012

The National Bereavement Survey allows people who have experienced bereavement to provide feedback on the care that their loved ones received during the last three months of their lives. The survey covers end of life care provided: at home; out of hours; by district and community nurse providers; in a care home; in hospitals; and in hospices.

Meeting the challenge of long term conditions?

The Future of Health conference in London on 3-4 October will set the pace of change for long term conditions, multi-morbidity and integrated care. It is being held by NHS England and UCL partners and will act as a national platform for policy debate and sharing of successful practice.
