Digital pen technology has evolved rapidly and gained greatly in popularity in the last few years. As the UK market leader, Destiny has been at the forefront of its advancement in both the public and private sectors, including healthcare.
A digital pen looks, feels and writes like an ordinary pen, so there’s little or no need for any training or change to working practices. The difference is that as clinicians write up their paper notes, the pen also takes thousands of pictures of their pen strokes and stores them as digital data. When the pen is docked to a PC or laptop, these pen strokes are automatically converted into an electronic version of the hand-written paper note, typically as a PDF, and then automatically attached to the patient record in Therapy Manager.
Commenting on the partnership, Bob Bond, Director of Pathway Software said: “Our aim is to provide clinicians with a range of different ways to interact with our software. This agreement allows us to offer a practical and well proven solution to those clinicians that wish to continue using paper-based notes. We chose to work with Destiny because of their track record in mobile technology and their proven experience in healthcare.”
Edward Belgeonne, CEO and founder of Destiny, said: “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Pathway Software, and to be able to support clinicians in the important work they do. Digital pen technology should save them valuable time as well as improving data quality, enhancing efficiency and freeing up more time to spend with patients.”
